Many bloggers are on a personal journey to change their lifestyle; to become a healthier version of themselves. Just as there are niche bloggers in the areas of food, crafts, homeschooling, and other topics, health-conscious bloggers now have a conference that combines the two topics they are passionate about: blogging/social media and wellness. According to the conference website, “The dream and goal of FitBloggin’ is to bring together the community of health-conscious bloggers for a day of education, networking and friendship.”
As one would expect at a conference with this focus, there is built-in time for attendees to focus on themselves and their health. In addition to an early morning walk/run, a brief break to tone those muscles, and a yoga session, there is a breakfast session with a registered dietitian. With raw snack tables and a Weight Watchers meeting added in, this conference is proof that you don’t have to set aside exercise and healthy eating while traveling.
I conducted an email interview with conference coordinator Roni Noone to gather more details about this conference to share with you. Here is what she had to say about Fit Bloggin’:
1. What makes this conference unique?
FitBloggin’ is a blogging conference for those that blog about fitness, wellness, good food and a healthy lifestyle. Attendees can expect to not only connect with fellow bloggers, but connect with fellow bloggers that share their passion to use blogs and social media to inspire themselves and others to live healthier lives.
2. What are some of the highlights or features of this conference?
We start off the morning of the conference with a run/walk. There are sessions on SEO, evaluating research, monetizing, book publishing, body image, WordPress, and pitching to traditional media.
3. Does this conference have different learning tracks or focuses?
There are multiple tracks. One is geared more for the technical side of blogging, the other more application. Attendees are encouraged to attend individual sessions that peak their interests.
4. If you could share 3 tips for conference newbies, what would they be?
Well, the great thing about FitBloggin’ this year is that EVERYBODY is a newbie! It’s our first year. SO…
- Come ready to make new friends
- Don’t assume you are the only one that doesn’t know anyone
- HAVE FUN! That’s what it’s all about.
