For many, their pets are their children or closest family members. Just as there are moms blogging about their kids, there are pet owners blogging about their pets.
The BlogPaws organization’s purpose is to connect those online who have a passion for pets. A resource for learning, networking, and fun, BlogPaws doesn’t only focus on these furry friends, but also offers information on important blogging topics such as SEO, content creation, and design tips. The conference is perfect for pet-friendly companies, small business owners, and bloggers who want to focus on a mix of business, blogging, and connecting with other pet lovers. All of this will be taking place at a pet-friendly hotel in Columbus, OH on April 9th and 10th.
I conducted an email interview with BlogPaws co-founder and conference co-creator Caroline Golon to gather more information. Here is what she shared about BlogPaws:
1. What makes this conference unique?
BlogPaws 2010 is the first ever conference dedicated to pet bloggers!
2. What are some of the highlights or features of this conference?
The conference is focused on education, networking and fun for pet bloggers and brands serving the online pet community. Supporting animal rescue is a big focus of ours so a large portion of our proceeds will be donated to two rescues nominated by attendees!
3. Does this conference have different learning tracks or focuses?
The focus of the conference is to help attendees be better bloggers – whatever that means to them personally.
4. If you could share your top 3 tips for conference newbies, what would they be?
- Remember that face-to-face is a great way to jump start relationships and build stronger ones with people you already know. Take full advantage of this!
- Attend social events. That’s a great way to meet people. Don’t be shy. There are a lot of people in the same boat as you are. Go up and introduce yourself.
- Bring your business cards with your blog name and address on it. Collect business cards. And visit the blogs of the people you meet as soon as possible after the conference and start commenting on their blogs so they know you’ve visited. This is a great way to stand out. A lot of people get too busy and never follow up with their new friends. Start building those relationships immediately after the conference.
5. How can people find out more information about your conference or contact you for questions?

I’m starting to see a trend in blog conferences as I learn more about the ones on the 2010 list: representation of niche and specific topics. I’m so glad to see that pet lovers now have their own conference to help them connect with other bloggers and brands.
If you attend BlogPaws, please share your experiences with us in a guest post!
