I don’t know about you, but when I hear the phrase “Show Me The Blog,” it conjures up thoughts in my head of the movie Jerry Maguire*. It makes me think of someone out there looking to use purpose, close connections, and a “we can do it” attitude to help others succeed in their industry.
This conference is no different. It’s a one-day, jam-packed event with a purpose. To connect people, facilitate learning, and help bloggers develop their passions….all while pumping some fun into the mix.
Taking place in St. Louis on October 23rd, 2010, Show Me The Blog is geared towards bloggers of all niches, and those interested in new media, social media, and technology. Danyelle Little, the conference coordinator had this to share with my readers about this new conference:
What makes this conference unique?
Show Me the Blog is unique because it will be held in the St. Louis/Metro East area. There are a lot of bloggers and social media enthusiasts and professionals in that area, but not many conferences are held locally. So this would give an opportunity to those in the area to attend without spending a lot on travel.
In addition, it is one of the few conferences that is rather inexpensive to attend. Early bird registration, which began August 1st, is only $40.00, which is a steal in comparison to other similar conferences that tend to cost much more. (FYI – That early bird rate ends September 1st and there are limited tickets at this rate!)
What are some of the highlights or features of this conference?
Show Me the Blog will feature bloggers and social media professionals from the Midwest area. It will be a daylong conference with topics and panels that bloggers have been wanting to discuss: separating your blog from your personal life, monetization tools, non-profit social media training, blogging your voice, and much more! We will also incorporate fun into the atmosphere by infusing music in the break sessions to keep it festive. This will not be a boring conference!
Does this conference have different learning tracks or focuses?
Our main mission of this blog conference is to give bloggers in this area (and those who come in from out of town) empowerment in their voice online through blogging and/or social media. It’s not just about blogging—it is about using your voice to sound off about your opinions or thoughts and create a movement.
If you could share your top 3 tips for conference newbies, what would they be?
I believe that your conference is only as strong as the people behind you. Have a solid team working with you so that your conference can be the best it can be. Be organized and work daily on the conference to ensure that its attendees are getting more bang for their buck. It’s not just a conference, it’s a tool that people are paying for to learn and improve their projects. Also, don’t take your conference too seriously. Your attendants want to learn but they also want to have fun. When planning and organizing your conference, keep that in mind!
