Are you a “lifestyle social networker?” Do you have a love for Twitter, Facebook, and all things social media? Or do you adore fashion & beauty, food & wine, creative arts, travel or lifestyle-centric topics in general?
If you answered yes to any of the above, then you need to check out this new conference: lavish! Categorized as a 2-day “unconference” that promises to bring the most dynamic social media influencers and brands, lavish! takes place in Atlanta on December 10-11th, 2010.
Lavish! conference coordinator, Shameeka Ayers of The Broke Socialite, shared the following with my readers about the conference:
What makes this conference unique?
lavish! is a first-in-class unconference experience for the lifestyle social media enthusiasts. Created especially for those who blog and/or utilize Facebook, Twitter, mobile media, et al about Creative Arts, Fashion & Beauty, Food & Wine, Shelter/Interior Styles, Travel & Leisure and other general lifestyle considerations.
What are some of the highlights or features of this conference?
Since most of us in the lifestyle social media realm are creatives, lavish! will concentrate on organic interaction. Think barcamp. For example, attendees will have the opportunity for a group to spin off after a traditional session to conduct more in-depth conversation about the take-aways that they received in the more formal setting. lavish! will also give marketers a stab at a new demographic. Though we possess the qualities that make loyal advocates and ambassadors, we are often times overlooked by marketers. It’s time to open the dialogue!
We’re also working on some dynamic keynote speakers; so continue to keep checking for updates! Finally, in true The Broke Socialite form, the conference is extremely affordable! It’s important to me that attendees experience a budget-friendly weekend. Registration from “Very, Very Early Bird” to “Regular” is less than $200. Our host venue, The Mansion on Peachtree, is a luxury boutique hotel but is extending record-low rates for accommodations.
Finally, Atlanta is easily accessible via air or ground. Only two hours away from most major markets, it’s relatively inexpensive to travel to Atlanta.
Does this conference have different learning tracks or focuses?
lavish! will offer content which translates across all of the focus areas such as “How To Establish Relationships With Marketers”, “Vlogging 101”, or “Show Me The Money: How To Profit From Your Social Media Efforts”; yet we are pleased to offer track-specific eduction, as well. We’ve built an advisory committee that is comprised of social media enthusiasts who are influencers in each track to ensure there is an opportunity for individual communities to align, network, and learn. It’s important to me that attendees walk away from lavish! with a clear charge and stronger relationships. (Oh…and some great swag!)
If you could share your top 3 tips for conference newbies, what would they be?
- Breathe! Conferences can be overwhelming.
- Establish goals before registration. Consider the following questions: What do you want to learn? Which sessions are going to be most beneficial to your blog or brand?
- Bring a power strip or two. You’ll make friends quickly. They are great ice breakers.
How can people find out more information about your conference or contact you for questions?

If you head to lavish!, be sure to let us know how it was. And don’t forget to chat with others who are attending in the Blog Conference Newbie forum in the lavish! section.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love that you’re on top of conference information so that we don’t have to. I just have to come here! Again, thanks for the info.
Glad to help! I know when I first started to get into conferences, I wished there was one central location, too. Hence why I created it! Glad to let you know about lavish! Sounds like it’s going to be one heck of an event, so I’d love to hear your feedback afterwards in a post or in the forums.
Have a fab day and thanks again for stopping by/your support!
